The North Star Supernovas make their way into Chicago this weekend to take on both Chi-Town teams. Saturday night they will play the Chicago Outfit Syndicate, and then they skate againt the Windy City Rollers All-Stars in a closed sanctioned bout on Sunday morning.
The Chicago Outfit was defeated by the North Star skaters in 2008 by a score of 71 to 68. It came down to the last jam that gave the our Minneapolis girls the win. The Supernovas know that the Outfit are looking to even the score this weekend and this is a rematch that both teams look forward to.
The Chicago Outfit also will be donating a portion of their bout profits to the Moxie Mayham Fund. The fund was established by the North Star Roller Girls after losing Moxie last fall in an accident while she was walking her three month old daughter Zoe.
Sunday’s match up will have the Supernovas up against the Windy City All-Star team. These two teams have yet to compete, but bonded during last seasons regional tournament in Saint Paul, MN. The Supernovas look to give Windy City a struggle, but just as importantly they will skate away learning much from the WCR All-Stars.
It’s a win for the Supernovas no matter how they do on Sunday as the Supernovas have found ways to build off the few losses their team has had in the last three years.
The Supernovas hope you can join us while in Chicago and be sure as always to support your local derby girls by attending their bouts and of course buying their wonderful merch.
